At present, the commonly used impact strength testing methods of plastic materials mainly include cantilever beam impact test method, simply supported beam impact test method and drop-weight impact test method. The impact strength characterization values obtained by different test methods are different.
1. Cantilever beam impact test method: The cantilever beam impact test method is generally used for materials with good toughness. It is a test method in which one end of the impact spline is fixed and the other end is suspended, and a pendulum is used to impact the sample. The unit of cantilever beam impact strength is kj/㎡.
2. Simply supported beam impact test method: The simply supported beam impact test method is mainly suitable for brittle materials. It is a test method in which the two ends of the spline to be impacted are placed on two supporting points and the spline is impacted with a pendulum, and its unit is also kj/㎡.
3. Falling weight impact test method: The falling weight impact test method is mainly suitable for high toughness materials. It directly uses the plastic products themselves, such as pipes and sheets, etc., cut into plate or sheet specimens supported by a ring, and impacted by falling balls of different metals. So it can directly reflect the impact resistance of a specific product itself.
